No Bad Movements: Responsive Parenting and Mobility in Early InterventionNo Bad Movements: Responsive Parenting and Mobility in Early Intervention

In this webinar, Dr. Jennifer James emphasizes the use of the responsive caregiver strategies : invite, engage and teach in order to accept that all movement has value. She emphasizes that there are no bad movements instead, these less-than efficient movements are a means to end which is participation.

She also discusses how movement conversations start with observing and identifying cues from the child to indicate interest. Movement patterns that get the child into the activity are to be accepted and encouraged. Finally she challenges us to think differently about all motor movements.
